Stay Cool, Save Energy

Household air conditioners have become increasingly common in Bangkok, and demand is expected to continue rising. While many people enjoy the comfort of cooling systems, the ideal air conditioner setting is often not well understood, leading to rooms that are unnecessarily cold. Since air conditioners consume a significant amount of energy, the temperature setting truly matters.

Our campaign aims to raise awareness in the society about the optimal AC temperature range of 25–28°C for the perfect balance of comfort and energy conservation.

The contemporary air conditioning systems feature digital screens for setting room temperatures, often leading people to make adjustments without careful consideration. In contrast, air conditioners from the 1980s to the 1990s were equipped with rectangular operational panels on the wall. Users set temperatures by moving a knob vertically along the panel to the desired temperature. Additionally, the temperature range of 26-28°C was highlighted in blue, while the remaining temperatures were displayed in black. This simple design subtly influenced users to set temperatures within that highlighted range.

It is clear to us that promoting energy conservation holds importance in Bangkok's tourism industry. As a tourism-oriented country, Thailand attracts a large number of visitors to Bangkok throughout the year, and as a result, their electricity consumption during their stay cannot be overlooked. We encourage visitors to set the air conditioning to an appropriate temperature. This initiative is also advantageous for hosts, as saving electricity translates to cost savings.
