Who we are
Econok, a non-profit organization based in Bangkok, founded in November 2023 and officially registered as the Econok Foundation, is committed to promoting energy conservation and nurturing a culture of environmental responsibility.
We are advocates of a green and clean city. To accomplish this, we must act now, as the effects of human-caused global warming are already negatively impacting people worldwide.
What we do
We take a practical approach, primarily focusing on the Bangkok area, to generate enduring benefits for society, the economy, the environment, and health. Our initiatives involve straightforward and conventional electricity efficiency improvement programs and educational activities. Our efforts are crucial for society, regardless of the energy source, and are not contingent upon achieving a zero-carbon society.
Total Energy Electricity Generation, Thailand, 2023
According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), over 80% of Thailand’s energy supply and electricity generation came from fossil fuels in 2023. The largest source of electricity generation is natural gas at approximately 64%, followed by coal at approximately 15%. Many studies predict that a fully renewable energy system is only likely in the distant future. In fact, Thailand announced a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065.
